Herbalaire Vaporizer

The Herbalaire is a scientific grade convection vaporizer, it is very effective at producing efficient bag hits and is one of the most reliable units available.

herbalaire-vaporizerThe Herbalaire is a tower unit that uses passive convection to heat herbs. It can be used with a kit for whip hits directly from the unit but is more effective when used with a bag system. The Herbalaire is able to produce clean bag hits while vaporizing a minimum amount of plant matter. It does not have any digital controls or fan so is one of the more manual units on the market. However, the simplicity of its design contributes to its reliability. There are reports of Herbalaire’s lasting long past the 2 year warranty each one is sold with when properly maintained.

The Herbalaire is one of the older models of vaporizer still very popular among its enthusiasts. Its staying power is because the unit is extremely durable and well crafted and easy to keep running for a long time. The other advantage of the Herbalaire is that for what it does, efficient clean bag hits, it does very well. Some of the newer vaporizers undoubtedly have more features including digital controls and readouts, powerful fans, or fast heat up times.

While the Herbalaire does not match up in those areas as a durable efficient bag vaporizer it is more than adequate. A big part of the reason that it is so reliable is precisely because it is lacking many of the advanced features of alternative makes. Digital controls, fans, and any other moving part or gadget provides another opportunity for something to break along with convenience. Even though the Herbalaire is controlled with an analog dial it is still one of the easier vaporizers to use. Its notable efficiency is due to a special heating mechanism the Herbalaire is built with that maximizes the active herbal compounds in the the chamber.

Depending on your specific needs and preferences in a vaporizer the Herbalaire may not be for you. But if you want an extremely reliable unit for use with bags and want to make the most out of your herb the Herbalaire may be for you.

Vapezilla Vaporizer – Super Vapezilla

The Vapezilla is a whip style vaporizer that has performed well in the past. Recent models have undergone a manufacturing change and now the unit suffers from slow heat up times, noise, and other inconveniences.

vapezilla_vaporizer_bigThe Vapezilla and the SuperVapezilla are whip style vaporizers that impressed many people in several competitions. Both models are forced air convection machines made by Wicked Roots, the only difference being the Super has digital controls and readout. Unfortunately that is as super as these machines get due to inferior manufacturing techniques that are being used for the current versions being sold. Many Vapezilla’s now feature an underpowered heating element, the primary component of a vaporizer, contributing the long heat up times and less durability.

If you want to purchase a Vapezilla make sure you pay special attention to the heating elements. Recent production changes mean that it may have a smaller ceramic heater which can take up to 20 minutes to reach herbal vaporization temperatures, especially in cold weather. The box construction also means that cool down times are long meaning this device results in extended sessions. Not long sessions just enjoying vapor but time spent waiting. The machine does eventually reach adequate temperatures and produce effective vapor after the wait.

There are reports of user modifications that can be done to improve some of these issues but that requires some dis-assembly and tinkering. For the price of the Vapezilla their are other vaporizers available that do not require any tool kit alterations to function well. If you come across the earliest Vapezilla vaporizers you are in for a good experience as they are high quality devices. Be wary of anything with the newer smaller heating element. If the vaporizer has a multi holed heating element it is an older quality model, otherwise it should be avoided.

Vaporizer Bong

Vaporizer water bongs provide all of the benefits of vaporization and can be created using standard smoking pieces.

Converted Water Pipe

Converted Water Pipe

A vaporizer bong is a bong, or water pipe, that can be used for vaporizing herbs or plants. These special types of water pipes are regular bongs which have been paired with special bowls or custom attachments to allow vaporization. If you are not ready to give up your favorite water pipe but also want to experience the benefits of vaporization there are several options available. There are electric models with advanced controls and displays and more simple flame powered attachments. Many people create homemade vaporizer bongs with industrial heat guns, specially designed bowls, and standard water pipes.

The first vaporizer bongs were regular bongs designed for combustion that home hobbyists modified to allow vaporization. The modifications included flame guards similar to those found on vaporizer pipes. These heat resistant guards, usually ceramic or metal, either fit in existing bowls or are the bowl themselves and slide directly into the stem of the piece. An open flame is then applied near the chamber to raise the temperature and vaporize the bud. The user pulls onĀ  the mouthpiece just like a combustion hit; some users still water filter the vapor while other do not find it necessary.

Heat guns vaporizers are another common adaptation for bongs. All that is required is a heat gun and a bowl with a wide enough opening to accommodate the heat gun. The heat gun is set to the desired temperature and held over the bowl packed with herbs as the user pulls on the mouthpiece. Users should be careful that the heat gun does not scatter the plant matter as it is placed onto the bowl.

Because of the popularity of many homemade water pipe vaporization methods there are now several manufactured solutions. These alternative include electric models with digital displays and controls and heat wand devices that use convection heat. There are also many attachments available to make standard whip or box style vaporizers compatible with bongs.

Converting your favorite combustion water pipe into a healthier vaporization unit has never been easier. With so many different options available it is a great way for smokers who want a low cost introduction to vaporization.
