Converted Water Pipe

A vaporizer bong is a bong, or water pipe, that can be used for vaporizing herbs or plants. These special types of water pipes are regular bongs which have been paired with special bowls or custom attachments to allow vaporization. If you are not ready to give up your favorite water pipe but also want to experience the benefits of vaporization there are several options available. There are electric models with advanced controls and displays and more simple flame powered attachments. Many people create homemade vaporizer bongs with industrial heat guns, specially designed bowls, and standard water pipes.

The first vaporizer bongs were regular bongs designed for combustion that home hobbyists modified to allow vaporization. The modifications included flame guards similar to those found on vaporizer pipes. These heat resistant guards, usually ceramic or metal, either fit in existing bowls or are the bowl themselves and slide directly into the stem of the piece. An open flame is then applied near the chamber to raise the temperature and vaporize the bud. The user pulls on  the mouthpiece just like a combustion hit; some users still water filter the vapor while other do not find it necessary.

Heat guns vaporizers are another common adaptation for bongs. All that is required is a heat gun and a bowl with a wide enough opening to accommodate the heat gun. The heat gun is set to the desired temperature and held over the bowl packed with herbs as the user pulls on the mouthpiece. Users should be careful that the heat gun does not scatter the plant matter as it is placed onto the bowl.

Because of the popularity of many homemade water pipe vaporization methods there are now several manufactured solutions. These alternative include electric models with digital displays and controls and heat wand devices that use convection heat. There are also many attachments available to make standard whip or box style vaporizers compatible with bongs.
